Three men accused of sexual crimes in Benito Juarez and Playa del Carmen face trial

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) announced that three men have been formally charged in separate hearings for their alleged involvement in rape and sexual abuse.

The crimes occurred in the municipalities of Benito Juarez and Playa del Carmen, against victims whose identities are protected, the FGE said.

Judges determined there was sufficient evidence to proceed with criminal proceedings against the defendants and imposed pretrial detention as a precautionary measure.

In Benito Juarez, Rubén Alejandro “N” was charged with allegedly raping and kidnapping a teenage girl. The incidents occurred between late May and early June 2026, according to the report.

In another case, Isaías “N” faces charges of rape involving a minor victim. The alleged abuse took place over several months this year.

In Playa del Carmen, Domingo “N” was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, in an incident reported on January 9.

The judges ordered pretrial detention for up to two years or for the duration of the judicial process for all three defendants.

Authorities said they will continue to monitor the victims to determine if they still require any type of counseling.
