Cancun, Quintana Roo — The start of the summer vacation period has brought a significant increase in passenger traffic to Cancun’s bus terminal, with long lines at ticket counters and busy boarding areas.
After a moderate start to the season on July 15, the terminal saw a sharp rise in the number of travelers. Waiting areas remained crowded and passenger flow was steady throughout much of the day.
Among the passengers were families starting their vacations, domestic tourists arriving to enjoy the attractions of the Mexican Caribbean, and people coming to Cancun to visit relatives. Hundreds of local residents also took advantage of the season to travel to other municipalities in Quintana Roo and other states.
In response to the increased demand, ground transportation companies plan to increase the number of trips by up to 30% during this vacation period to accommodate the growth in users and maintain service quality.
Authorities expect passenger numbers to continue rising as more people officially begin their vacations, solidifying the Cancun bus terminal as one of the main connection points for thousands of travelers this summer.
