Rescue Dog From Cancun Joins Search Efforts After Venezuela Earthquakes
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A rescue dog from Cancun has joined international search efforts in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country.
Munek, a black-and-white female dog, is part of the International Rescue Brigade Cancun. She traveled with the team days ago to help locate survivors and victims trapped under rubble.
Known for her keen sense of smell, Munek has already helped identify survivors buried in debris, allowing rescue crews to extract them. Videos and photos shared on social media show Munek at the airport before departure and later working at the disaster site, wearing protective goggles and a vest.
Mexican rescue teams are among several international groups that have deployed to Venezuela to assist in the aftermath of the earthquakes.
