Quintana Roo Signs Agreement for Secure Digital Identity

Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo Digital Transformation Agency (ATD) and the civil association Robo de Identidad MX (RIDMX) have signed a collaboration agreement for cybersecurity digitalization, aiming to establish a technological protection standard in the country’s southeastern region.

Ivan Rodriguez, director of Robo de Identidad MX, said the agreement addresses critical digital infrastructure challenges facing Mexico in 2026 and positions the state as a hub for secure innovation, protection against digital fraud, and advanced technological governance. The pact sets operational foundations to protect digital identity and regulate the use of artificial intelligence in the state.

During the event, Rodriguez delivered a lecture titled “Cybersecure Digital Identity for Digital Inclusion,” in which he discussed the need to build sovereign and reliable identity layers that enable secure economic access for citizens and reduce cyber fraud at its source.

Eduardo Adolfo Vazquez Salazar, director of Technologies and Information, participated with a lecture on “Security and Privacy in the Use of AI,” focusing on cyber hygiene frameworks and regulatory compliance required by the massive adoption of artificial intelligence in the public and private sectors.

The agreement lays the regulatory groundwork and serves as a direct precursor to the II National Congress on Identity and Cybersecurity for Secure Digital Transformation (ID&C Cancun 2026), scheduled for November 11-12 at the Cancun City Theater.

Through this alliance, Quintana Roo activates a digital protection strategy aimed at safeguarding micro and small tourism businesses, ensuring family safety in virtual environments, and strengthening the resilience of critical state government infrastructure.
