Cancun, Quintana Roo — Operation Cancun Shield began a surveillance deployment with 102 members of federal and municipal agencies from Superblock 255. Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta attended the opening formation and urged personnel to perform their duties with honesty, responsibility, empathy, and closeness to citizens.
The deployment included 29 units and 13 motorcycle patrols, coordinated by the Mexican Army, the Navy Secretariat, the National Guard, and various municipal departments as part of crime-prevention actions and efforts to reinforce the authorities’ presence in the city.
In her remarks, Peralta recognized the work of members of the three levels of government and asked them to maintain integrity while considering the needs of the people they encounter during their work.
“Wear that uniform with honor and integrity; always be impeccable in your work and also put yourselves in the shoes of the citizens,” the mayor said. She reiterated the importance of coordinated work to contribute to the peace of mind of Cancun families.
Jaime Padilla Barrientos, municipal secretary of Citizen Security and Transit, said Operation Cancun Shield is carried out daily through patrols in the areas with the highest crime rates. The purpose is to prevent illegal conduct, strengthen surveillance, and make arrests when appropriate.
Participating municipal areas included Citizen Security, Transit, Crime Prevention, C-2, Search, Auxiliary Police, the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG), and Internal Affairs.
The official urged the public to collaborate by promptly reporting risk situations, using 9-1-1 for emergencies and 089 for anonymous reports about possible criminal acts.
