Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Renán Sánchez Tajonar has concluded his term as state leader of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico in Quintana Roo and has handed over a party with committees in all 11 municipalities and more than 80,000 affiliated members. He thanked party members for their work, dedication, and commitment during his tenure.

He explained that his decision follows a principle of consistency because of his participation in Morena’s internal process for the selection of the Municipal Coordination of the Committees for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty in Cozumel. He will concentrate his efforts in Cozumel.

“A process like this is carried out on a level playing field and full-time, without the advantage of any position,” Sánchez Tajonar said.

Party Growth and 2024 Results

During his tenure, the Green Party grew from 11,000 to more than 80,000 members and established an organized presence in all 11 municipalities of the state. In the 2024 election, it received more than 140,000 votes and solidified its position as the second-largest political force in Quintana Roo.

“That work doesn’t belong to one person. It belongs to every colleague who knocked on doors, who stood up in their community, and who stayed when the road was uphill,” Sánchez Tajonar said.

He emphasized that the party’s strength lies in its presence on the streets and that this strength is maintained through unity. He therefore asked members to support the new leadership with the same dedication.

Support for Sheinbaum and Lezama

Sánchez Tajonar reiterated that the Green Party remains steadfast in its support for the project led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. He also expressed gratitude to the national leadership, legislators, and the women and youth of the party.

“My responsibility changes; my commitment to Quintana Roo and its people does not,” Sánchez Tajonar concluded.
