Quintana Roo Authorities Arrest Man Accused of Leaving Dog to Die in Extreme Heat

Tulum, Quintana Roo — State prosecutors arrested a man Saturday for allegedly causing the death of a dog by leaving it tied to a window grate under the scorching sun.

Victor Manuel “N” was taken into custody in Tulum on charges of crimes against the environment and wildlife, according to the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office.

Investigators say that on the afternoon of June 7, the suspect tied an American Bully dog to a window grate at a home in the Tumbenká neighborhood. Temperatures that day exceeded 34 degrees Celsius (93°F). The animal suffered severe heatstroke, leading to cardiovascular and neurological complications that proved fatal.

The dog ultimately died from cardiorespiratory arrest.

Victor Manuel “N” has been handed over to a judge to face the legal proceedings against him.
