Tulum, Quintana Roo — State and municipal authorities are moving forward with a joint project to rehabilitate the access road to the coastal community of Punta Allen in Tulum, aiming to improve mobility for residents and ensure the continuous flow of essential services.

Cristian Moguel, Tulum’s director general of Public Infrastructure, said the work is being coordinated with the State Secretariat of Public Works (SEOP), highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration to address one of the main demands of the local population.

He announced that a key meeting between both entities will take place in the coming days to define the project’s next steps and establish a broader action plan.

“We are working in coordination with the Secretariat of Public Works, awaiting this week’s meeting to move forward. Last week, machinery was used to repair three kilometers of the road,” the official explained, emphasizing that concrete progress has already been made in improving this access route.

Moguel detailed that current efforts focus on addressing the most critical points of the highway section, removing obstacles and leveling the surface to facilitate transit for both residents and vehicles providing essential services, including transportation, healthcare, and supply deliveries.

He added that the total investment amount has not yet been determined, as it will depend on agreements reached in working meetings with the state government. However, he assured that both authorities are committed to continuing the project and guaranteeing better connectivity conditions for Punta Allen.
