Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz has announced the launch of the second stage of the reconstruction of the access road to Bahia Petempich, a project aimed at improving traffic conditions, safety, and durability on the key route.

The project involves a total investment of 8 million pesos (about $400,000) to cover 4,979 square meters with a 5-centimeter layer of hot asphalt concrete, along with a cement-stabilized hydraulic base for greater strength and longevity.

“With this second stage of reconstruction of the access to Bahia Petempich, we guarantee a safer, more efficient, and dignified roadway for residents and visitors,” the mayor said. “This work not only improves mobility but also boosts tourism and economic development in our coastal area, reducing travel times and providing greater safety for everyone.”

Public Works Secretary Mario Salinas Castro detailed the technical scope of the work, which includes earth cutting and leveling, asphalt application, and road signage. “We are incorporating a stabilized hydraulic base that improves the structural capacity of the road, as well as horizontal and vertical signage to organize vehicle flow and reduce accident risks,” he explained.

The project also includes complementary works such as storm drainage and safety elements to extend the infrastructure’s lifespan and ensure proper functioning in adverse weather conditions.
