Police Seize 166 Kilos of Marijuana in Cancun Raid

Uniformed officers from various agencies participate in a drug raid in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Authorities seized 166 kilograms of marijuana during a raid on a home in the Barrio Maya neighborhood, Supermanzana 517, dealing a significant blow to local drug distribution networks.

Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) traced a drug trafficking ring to a house on Calle Quetzales, between Avenida 145 and De Los Mayas. However, no arrests were made as the suspects fled before the operation.

The FGE reported that the marijuana was packaged in 332 bundles, each weighing approximately 500 grams, with an estimated street value of 3.984 million pesos (about $200,000 USD).

After obtaining a search warrant from a judge, officers from the Investigative Police, along with personnel from the Mexican Navy, Army, National Guard, and Municipal Police, conducted the raid. They found the drugs in transparent bags containing green plant material consistent with marijuana.

The operation was led by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Dealing, which sealed the property and placed it under guard. The seized drugs were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation and to identify those responsible for the trafficking operation.
