Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Authorities have located the vehicle belonging to Carlos Hernández Gorocica nearly a week after he was found murdered with signs of torture, potentially providing new leads in the investigation.
The State Prosecutor’s Office found the black Fiat abandoned near the Technological University of Chetumal, according to initial reports. The vehicle’s license plates had been removed at an undetermined time.
A security guard at the university reported finding the car but could not determine when it had been parked there.
Hernández was abducted early Thursday morning last week and his body was later discovered dumped near the irregular settlement of Mártires Antorchistas. The discovery of his vehicle could provide investigators with additional evidence in a case that has caused significant concern in the state capital.
