Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The CROC union is updating its registry of musicians and artists in Playa del Carmen, including the performers who work along the Quinta Avenida tourist corridor, the organization’s local commissioner said.
Emmanuel Pavón said affiliated artists are still working along the busy avenue with the tolerance of local authorities while the registration is brought up to date and identification cards are issued. He added that officials already know who regularly performs in the area.
The review covers the union’s general membership list, which currently counts about 800 people. Pavón estimated the figure could fall to around 700 once members who have died or no longer live in Playa del Carmen are removed.
The commissioner did not specify how many of those members work on Quinta Avenida, nor when the new cards will begin to be handed out.
