Cozumel, Quintana Roo — More than 150 scouts from across Quintana Roo will gather this weekend in Cozumel for a Rally de Manadas aimed at teaching life skills, promoting environmental protection, and countering the growing impact of technology on children.

The event, titled “La Piel de Shere Khan en el Templo de Ixchel,” will bring together 90 scouts aged 6 to 9, along with 40 adult scout leaders and parents. They will camp for three days at Chankanaab Park, focusing on community building through the values of the Scout Promise and Law.

Rally coordinator Víctor Peraza Peniche said the activity was made possible with support from local institutions and businesses, including the Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel, Parque Kuzá, the 18th Military Air Zone, the Museo de la Isla, Dolphin Discovery, ferry operator Xailing Xcaret, and the Fundación Comunitaria Cozumel.

The program begins Friday with a walk from Benito Juárez Park to the Museo de la Isla, followed by a visit to the 18th Military Air Zone and camp setup at Chankanaab. Saturday morning, scouts will head to Parque Kuzá for environmental conservation activities, then return to enjoy a sea lion show and park attractions.

From 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, educational workshops will be led by local institutions including the Red Cross, the Centro de Integración Juvenil, MucPaz Cozumel, Sippinna, the Mesa de Seguridad y Justicia, community doctors, and the Conservation and Environmental Education area of the Fundación de Parques y Museos.

Sunday will feature the traditional Rally de Manadas 2026 at Chankanaab, followed by a closing ceremony and return to Benito Juárez Park for farewells. Xailing Xcaret is offering special discounts to facilitate children’s participation.

Cozumel is home to scout group 22 Uamyl, part of the Asociación de Scouts de México, which meets every Saturday at the Parque de la Unidad Bicentenario and the Colegio de Ingenieros y Arquitectos.
