Tulum, Quintana Roo — Residents of the Cobá community in Tulum are demanding justice after two dogs were poisoned early Saturday morning. One of the animals, a small dog named Pulga, died, while the other, Balú, remains in critical condition.
The owners said both dogs began showing severe symptoms of intoxication during the early hours. Despite desperate efforts by the family to save them, Pulga did not survive. Balú has been stabilized but is still very weak.
“These animals have been with us for years. Losing a family member this way is devastating,” the owner said, describing the act as cowardly and vile.
Authorities have not yet identified who may have left the poisonous substance within reach of the dogs. This is the second case of dog poisoning in Tulum this week.
