Cancún Named World’s Most Active City in World Wellness Weekend 2026

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Cancún ranked as the most active city in the world during the tenth edition of World Wellness Weekend 2026, logging 307 activities across 58 participating venues, while Tulum placed fourth internationally in its first coordinated appearance, cementing the Mexican Caribbean as a benchmark for wellness tourism.

According to the event’s official tally, the festival ran from Sept. 18 to 20 and ranked Cancún first worldwide in both the number of activities and the number of participating spaces, measured within a 25-kilometer radius that includes Isla Mujeres and Costa Mujeres.

The destination outpaced Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, which recorded 182 activities, along with Marbella, Spain, with 107, and Caracas, Venezuela, with 77.

Tulum, for its part, counted 94 activities at 25 venues, placing fourth globally by number of experiences and fifth by participating spaces. Together, Cancún and Tulum accounted for 401 activities and 83 venues.

Mexico Leads the Global Table

Quintana Roo’s showing helped drive Mexico to first place worldwide by number of activities, with 754 experiences, ahead of Spain, Vietnam, the United States and the Dominican Republic.

The state’s program featured yoga, Pilates, meditation, physical conditioning, conscious breathing, nutrition sessions, water-based experiences, traditional ceremonies and environmental stewardship activities.

Events took place in hotels, on beaches, and in parks, public spaces and sports centers, with offerings aimed at both visitors and residents.

In Cancún, the Social Run Neón along Malecón Tajamar drew hundreds of participants for recreational three- and five-kilometer runs. Tulum’s lineup highlighted a BiciRally, a Running Dance 7K and a collective meditation at Parque del Jaguar.

Playa del Carmen added roughly 30 activities at two venues, while other destinations in the state, including Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Puerto Morelos and Bacalar, also took part in the agenda.
