Mototaxi Driver Shot in Playa del Carmen’s Las Torres Area

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A mototaxi driver was shot Sunday in the Las Torres irregular settlement in the Ejidal neighborhood, prompting a large police response but no arrests.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and immediately called authorities. Police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

Paramedics provided first aid to the wounded driver and transported him to a hospital for further treatment.

According to witnesses, the attackers had been chasing the victim and fired multiple times. The mototaxi driver was a member of the CROC union and was driving unit number 83.

Unofficial reports indicate police secured a second vehicle that was hit by bullets, but this has not been confirmed.
