During a recent press conference, a journalist asked Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to look into the actions of the Quintana Roo justice authorities. This request was in relation to the case of former PRD deputy Emiliano Ramos, who has been issued a two-year preventive prison order for alleged domestic violence.
The plea for intervention was made on behalf of Salvador Ramos Bustamante, a former union leader of the CROC and Emiliano Ramos's father. Bustamante argues that the accusations against his son have not been adequately substantiated.
Emiliano Ramos has been charged with alleged domestic violence against his ex-wife, Paola Moreno, who is an elected deputy for Morena. In response to these charges, Bustamante issued a statement calling the preventive prison order "unjustified and irregular". He further claimed that the detention is a ploy to strip Emiliano Ramos of his assets and custody of his daughters.
