MasterChef Mexico Debuts 24/7 Format With Daily Challenges and Reveals First Contestants

Mexico City — MasterChef Mexico kicked off its new season on Sunday, May 17, with a revamped 24/7 format that gives viewers round-the-clock access to contestants’ challenges and interactions. The season began with a high-stakes cooking test that determined which home cooks earned a spot in the competition — and which were sent home just short of the coveted white apron.

Unlike previous seasons, the new “MasterChef 24/7” format requires contestants to face challenges every day to avoid landing in the danger zone and being eliminated on Sundays. Participants must also compete for advantages, including help from the so-called “fire masters”: chefs Isabel Carvajal, Édgar Núñez, Diego Niño, and Lili Cuéllar.

The weekly schedule is as follows: Monday features the “Power the Pin” challenge, where a captain is chosen; Tuesday brings “Benefits and Punishment,” selecting a second and third captain — the latter by public vote. Wednesday is the “Team Battle” for a third leadership role; Thursday is “Black Aprons,” placing contestants in the risk zone; Friday is “Salvation,” determining who moves to the balcony; and Sunday is elimination day.

On Sunday’s premiere, contestants had 15 minutes to prepare a dish showcasing their talent. The first group of participants was selected, while an additional group received a “last chance” but must still fight to stay in the competition.

The confirmed contestants for MasterChef Mexico 24/7 are: María del Carmen Ramos, Ricardo Hernández, Javier Lara, Nahieli Jácome, Michelle Malacara, Luis Ramos, Flor Ramírez, Carmen Fuentes, Jazmín Bernal, Camila Souza, Ángel ‘Antrax’, Daniela Parra, Emmanuel Chiang, Arturo López, Alberto Palomino ‘Ramahá’, Ixdit Vega, Lourdes, and Claudia Ruíz.
