Marine Biology Course Opens for Kids in Puerto Morelos During Shark Month

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The organization We Love the Sea has opened registration for a marine biology course aimed at children and teenagers aged 6 to 16, as part of National Shark Month. The program seeks to introduce young participants to the knowledge and conservation of marine ecosystems in the Mexican Caribbean.

The course runs from July 26 to August 25, with in-person sessions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Puerto Morelos. Instruction will be given in both Spanish and English, covering topics such as marine biology, coral reefs, sea turtles, sharks, and other species found along the coast of Quintana Roo.

Organizers announced that full scholarships are available, along with a reduced fee for those who do not receive financial aid. The goal is to broaden participation among children and youth interested in science and environmental protection.

The initiative is supported by We Love the Sea, the Reef Rescue School, Saving Our Sharks Foundation, Saving Our Sharks for Kids, the state Secretariat of Ecology and Environment (SEMA), and the Government of Quintana Roo, as part of efforts to promote environmental education and ocean conservation among new generations.
