Man Shot Six Times in Cancun, Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A 29-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot six times in the Santa Cecilia neighborhood near Avenida José López Portillo on Wednesday evening.
Police said the victim, identified as Brandon “N,” arrived at the Hospital General de Cancun on his own around 8:40 p.m. Hospital staff alerted emergency services, prompting police to respond.
According to the victim’s statement, two armed men on a motorcycle approached him outside a local business and opened fire. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and one leg.
Relatives initially drove him to the hospital in a private vehicle before hospital staff notified authorities. He was taken into surgery and remains in serious condition with a guarded prognosis.
Municipal police cordoned off the attack site in Santa Cecilia for forensic investigators to collect ballistic evidence. Investigative police also interviewed the victim at the hospital. The State Prosecutor’s Office will lead the investigation.
