Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man was shot and killed inside his home Saturday night in the Tierra Maya neighborhood of Cancun, and the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) has launched an investigation.
The victim, identified as Julio Cesar, approximately 41 years old, was attacked by individuals who arrived on a motorcycle, according to initial reports. The shooting occurred on Keken Street, where neighbors alerted authorities after hearing gunshots.
Preliminary investigations indicate that two suspects arrived on a motorcycle. One got off and allegedly argued with the victim before shooting him multiple times in front of his home. The attack was direct and swift, leaving the man shot at the entrance of the residence. The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
Forensic investigators from the FGE collected evidence at the scene, and the body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for an autopsy. The investigation remains open as authorities work to identify and locate the perpetrators and determine a motive.
