Free Music and Dance Show in Playa del Carmen to Support Mental Health Nonprofit

Artists performing at D'Arte Consciencia benefit show in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Local artists and dance academies will come together Saturday for a free benefit show organized by the D’Arte Consciencia project, raising funds and awareness for the nonprofit Salud Integral e Incluyente.

The event starts at 4 p.m. at the Reef Coco Beach hotel, located on Avenida CTM with Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre.

Salud Integral e Incluyente provides personalized psychological counseling for children, youth, and adults, as well as art therapy workshops and support for physical health needs, said Andrea Rosado, a representative of the organization. The group also offers assessments and referrals for neurodivergence.

Gabo Marcel, director of D’Arte Consciencia, emphasized that all donations — whether in cash or in kind — go directly to the nonprofit. Needed items include educational games, board games, exercise mats, stationery, books, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, and blood pressure monitors.

Rosado noted that art is closely linked to mental health, which is why the event aims to give greater visibility to the issue.

Georgina Coute, director of APEX and Light On, highlighted the support from the business sector. This year, the event secured space at the hotel rather than the city theater as in previous editions. “We care about helping society, and through D’Arte Consciencia we can do that with the artistic talent of our academies,” she said.

Rafael Ávila, coordinator between the organizations, stressed the pedagogical aspect and the focus on neurodivergent children, who are served through art at APEX. “Having treatment and associations that offer more affordable psychologists — people can reach out to Salud Integral e Incluyente,” he said.

Marcel added that all participating artists donate their time, effort, and art. The public only needs to attend the show and donate in cash or kind.

Following the main event, APEX and Light On academies will hold another performance featuring many neurodivergent children, with proceeds also going to the same nonprofit. Organizers noted that neurodivergent children are often marginalized or denied opportunities despite having equal abilities, underscoring the importance of the event and community support.
