Firefighters Rescue Family From Burning Home in Playa del Carmen

Firefighters and emergency personnel at the scene of a house fire in Playa del Carmen's Santa Fe neighborhood

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Firefighters and Red Cross paramedics rescued two adults, a minor, and a dog from a house fire Friday morning in the Santa Fe neighborhood.

Neighbors reported smoke rising from the roof of the home around 7 a.m., prompting emergency crews to respond. Rescuers extracted the family from inside the house and extinguished the flames.

Paramedics administered oxygen to the dog, which had inhaled smoke. The animal recovered and was returned to its owners.

Authorities believe a short circuit started the fire, which quickly consumed household items while the family was asleep. No injuries were reported.
