Cancún, Quintana Roo — The 29th edition of ExpHotel Cancún opened Tuesday with 500 companies exhibiting across 450 booths, including a 15% to 20% international presence and direct suppliers from China, organizers said.
Jorge Cornejo, deputy director of the event, said expectations for economic impact are high, though final figures typically take months to calculate. “The economic spillover we have from previous years has been calculated at $14 million, and that data comes in a few months after the fair,” Cornejo said. “This expo is for wholesalers; people come to make contacts, and a purchase involves several signatures, budgets, and competition.”
Despite global logistics challenges, organizers filled all available space without major issues. However, Cornejo acknowledged lingering concerns about external factors that could affect the sector in the short term.
The fair has reached its physical growth limit, occupying all three usable levels of the convention center. Activities and workshops will continue through June 4.
