Cancún, Quintana Roo — A Cancún traffic officer was caught on video allegedly demanding a $630 USD bribe from foreign tourists in the Puerto Juárez area. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
A bystander noticed the apparent extortion and began recording. In the video, the officer is seen on a motorcycle with license plate M-508. The citizen speaks to the tourists in English, who confirm the officer was asking for $630 USD — approximately 10,900 Mexican pesos.
The Mexican citizen tells the tourists that the officer’s actions are illegal and advises them not to pay. He continues filming until the officer flees on his motorcycle, with the bystander calling him a “rat.”
