Cancun to Host Giant Screen for World Cup Semifinals at Playa Langosta

A large screen set up on Playa Langosta beach in Cancun for broadcasting World Cup matches

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Playa Langosta will become a central gathering point for World Cup semifinals, featuring a giant screen and a family-friendly caravan organized with private sector partners, according to Juan Pablo de Zulueta, Benito Juárez’s tourism secretary.

The events are scheduled for July 14 and 15 as part of an initiative to provide free, safe, and family-oriented spaces for residents to watch the matches.

De Zulueta said the caravan will be sponsored by Corona’s non-alcoholic beer brand, and the games will be broadcast on a 5-by-3-meter screen. No alcohol will be sold to maintain the family atmosphere.

The official noted that these activities also boost local businesses and service providers by attracting more visitors to the area.

Since the start of the World Cup, approximately 35,000 people have attended screenings at various locations, including Playa Delfines, Parque de las Palapas, Tajamar, and Playa Langosta.

Additional screens have been installed, and recreational activities are being organized to enhance the experience and solidify Cancun’s reputation as a destination for sports and tourism.
