Cancun, Quintana Roo — State police rescued three kidnapped men from a safe house in Cancun on Monday, thwarting a planned execution, authorities said.
Officers from the Quintana Roo Public Security Department’s State Investigation Police located the property in the Paseos Kusamil neighborhood, Superblock 110, where the victims were found with severe signs of torture.
According to unconfirmed reports circulating on social media and local news, one of the rescued men is believed to be the son of an active state police commander, who had been missing since Thursday.
The police operation was triggered by the morning discovery of a cross-style motorcycle linked to the kidnapping. Investigators used field work and technological tracking to trace the vehicle to the safe house.
Unofficial sources at the scene said the victims were subjected to intense interrogations by criminal cells operating in Benito Juarez municipality. The captors demanded detailed information about the whereabouts of a suspected crime leader known as “El H,” whom they claimed was the direct boss of the kidnapped men.
The victims told investigators they had been blindfolded, bound hand and foot, and beaten repeatedly since their abduction Thursday. They said they had no knowledge of “El H’s” identity or location.
The kidnappers reportedly told the victims they would be killed Monday because the deadline to provide information had expired. The captors were preparing to carry out the executions and abandon the bodies in a remote area on the outskirts of Cancun when police arrived.
During the raid, officers arrested two suspects caught guarding the property. Police seized firearms and various quantities of drugs at the scene.
The three victims were rescued alive. The alleged police commander’s son, who had the least severe injuries, was immediately taken under heavy guard to the State Police base for medical evaluation and legal proceedings.
The two detainees were turned over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status and open an investigation for aggravated kidnapping, weapons possession, and drug-related crimes.
