Police officers at the scene of a drug arrest in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A joint operation by federal and state forces led to the arrest of a man suspected of drug dealing in Cancun on Sunday.

Officers from the Orion Group of the Public Security Department, working with the Mexican Navy, the Defense Department, and the National Guard, were conducting patrols when they spotted two men exchanging small transparent bags containing a green plant resembling marijuana.

When the suspects noticed the patrol, one fled on foot while the other tried to escape on a motorcycle. Police blocked his path on Avenida Puertos between Calle Mazatlán and an unnamed street in Supermanzana 31.

During a preventive search, officers found 53 ziploc bags containing a green plant similar to marijuana and 33 bags with a crystalline powder resembling crystal meth. They also seized the black Honda motorcycle he was riding, which had no license plates.

The suspect, identified as Rodolfo de San Martín N, was handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Dealing to determine his legal status.
