Cancun, Quintana Roo — Mexican authorities detained four people and seized dozens of cellphones and other evidence during a raid on a home in the Real Tikal neighborhood Wednesday evening, as part of an investigation into suspected human trafficking.

The operation, led by state prosecutors, targeted a house in Supermanzana 39 following a complaint filed with the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE). Officers from the Ministerial Police, National Guard, and municipal police participated in the raid.

Neighbors reported that at least four women had been living in the home for several months and that there was constant, unusual movement of people entering and leaving the property.

Authorities gained entry to the gated community after obtaining authorization, as the access gate was initially closed with private security on site.

During the search, agents found more than 50 cellphones allegedly connected to social media and communication platforms, a bag of dried plant material resembling marijuana, condoms, and notebooks with notes that are now part of the investigation.

At the conclusion of the operation, four people — two men and two women — were taken from the scene. They are believed to be linked to human trafficking and telephone fraud. Unofficial reports identified one of the alleged leaders as Oscar “N,” though authorities have not officially confirmed the arrests.

The property was secured by the FGE, and the women found inside were placed under protective custody to receive specialized care as the investigation continues.
