‘10,000 Smiles’ Marks a Decade of Bringing Toys to Vulnerable Children in Quintana Roo

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The “10,000 Smiles” program is celebrating its 10th anniversary, having donated more than 7,000 toys to children living in poverty, with disabilities, or facing serious illness.

This year, organizers are again calling for donations to support Fundación Aitana, an organization that works with children battling cancer.

Dulce Marchan, human value manager at Dolphin Company, said the program is an annual fundraising and social support initiative organized by the Dolphin Discovery Foundation to mark Children’s Day.

“Its goal is to benefit low-income children or those with health problems through recreational activities and donations,” Marchan explained.

Activities include special-priced dolphin swims, children’s shows, piñatas, and family gatherings at Dolphin Discovery locations in Isla Mujeres and Cancún.

On Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, at Dolphin Discovery Isla Mujeres, and on May 16 at Dolphin Discovery Cozumel, local visitors can take part in the “Encounter with Dolphins” program at a special price of 399 pesos per person by donating a new toy per family (up to four members).

“The experience includes interacting with dolphins in a safe, educational setting, plus a food combo with a hot dog, pasta, fries, and a drink,” Marchan said.

Guests can also enjoy the park’s facilities and a day full of surprise activities.

All collected toys will be donated to Fundación Aitana, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and young people with cancer in Quintana Roo.

Over its history, “10,000 Smiles” has collected more than 7,000 toys, benefiting thousands of vulnerable children. The initiative has also promoted health and nutrition programs and drawn thousands of attendees and volunteers.

In addition, it has provided unique experiences with marine mammals to more than 5,000 children, solidifying itself as an action that not only brings smiles but transforms lives and offers hope to those who need it most.
