Cancún, Mexico — Isaías González Cuevas, national leader of the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants (CROC), reaffirmed the union’s stance that worker tips and labor rights are non-negotiable during a meeting with the syndicate’s Cancún leadership. González emphasized that tips constitute a vital part of employees’ income and must be respected under the Federal Labor Law.

Transparency in Tip Distribution

Addressing hundreds of workers at the Haven Hotel, González acknowledged concerns about tip allocation and pledged full transparency. “All employees will know the exact amounts distributed by their employers. No third party outside the workplace may interfere with these funds,” he stated.

He commended the local union for adhering to the CROC’s National Ordinary Council agreements and its Strategic Plan, which prioritizes political participation, environmental stewardship, and dignified labor conditions. González stressed the need to boost productivity and workforce training, echoing directives from the late Cancún leader Mario Machuca.

Justice for Mario Machuca Case

González honored Machuca—a key CROC figure murdered earlier this year—as an empathetic and proactive leader. He thanked Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, and Attorney General Raciel López Salazar for their swift investigation into the killing. “We trust the authorities will soon identify the intellectual authors of this crime and apply the full weight of the law,” he added.

Martín de la Cruz Gómez, CROC’s Quintana Roo secretary general, called for unity to maintain the union’s national influence, describing it as a pillar for worker advocacy.

Dialogue with Business Sector

Later, González met with private-sector representatives at Sandos Hotel, urging them to strengthen dialogue, social justice, and inclusive development under the Memorandum of Understanding for the National Social, Economic, and Environmental Council. Attendees included Jovita Portillo Navarro of Coparmex Cancún, Jorge Azcárraga from the Business Coordinating Council, and hotel executives.
