Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Authorities found the body of a missing 19-year-old on Monday morning after an overnight search operation along the coast. The young person had been reported missing after apparently being swept away by currents.
The Playa del Carmen municipal government activated the search after receiving a report through the C5 emergency system. The Department of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention and Firefighters led the mobilization, deploying ground teams along the shoreline starting at Parque Fundadores.
Search efforts continued uninterrupted through the night and into the morning with coordination between multiple agencies including the Mexican Navy, the Citizen Security Department, and Tourist Police. The operation also utilized aerial support from the “Albatros” helicopter to expand coverage.
The body was located during the morning hours but showed no signs of life. The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office has initiated corresponding procedures according to established protocols.
Municipal officials said they provided support and information to the victim’s family throughout the operation.
