Police operation in Mahahual, Quintana Roo, where a U.S. couple was arrested for alleged drug trafficking

Mahahual, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested a U.S. couple in Mahahual after finding them with multiple doses of suspected drugs prepared for distribution.

Police identified the detainees as James Heatherington and Robin Marie, who are allegedly involved in health-related crimes, commonly referring to drug offenses.

The arrest occurred at the intersection of Oxtankah and Manglar streets in the Casitas residential area. Security personnel observed a man and a woman handling a transparent plastic bag containing a green vegetable resembling marijuana.

Officers approached and conducted a search, uncovering several substances and items linked to alleged drug dealing.

Authorities seized a bag of dry herb similar to marijuana, 102 small bags of white powder with characteristics of cocaine, and five bags of crystalline material resembling crystal meth. They also confiscated two cell phones, a vest, and a wallet.

The operation involved the Centurion Group of the Citizen Security Department, coordinating with personnel from the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and Municipal Police.

After the arrest, authorities handed the couple over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, where their legal status will be determined in the coming hours.
