Two men charged with sexual crimes against minors in Puerto Morelos and Chetumal

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office has obtained formal charges against two men in separate cases involving sexual offenses against minors, authorities announced Thursday.

In the first case, a judge ordered Jorge Luis “N” to stand trial on charges of sexual harassment and other related crimes. The alleged incidents began on July 4 at a swimming pool in a residential complex in Puerto Morelos.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim — a minor — was playing in the pool with her brother when the suspect, who was sitting on a lounge chair, stared at her persistently while touching his genitals and gesturing for her to come closer.

The girl reported the incident to her mother and stepfather. The stepfather, along with a security guard, detained the suspect and handed him over to municipal police.

In a separate case in Othón P. Blanco, Fidelino Baltazar “N” was charged with sexual abuse for acts that occurred between April and November 2022. Prosecutors say he exploited his family relationship with the victim to commit the crimes. An arrest warrant was issued and executed on July 4.
