12 arrested for drug trafficking in Cancún and Playa del Carmen

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Twelve individuals have been formally linked to legal proceedings for alleged crimes against public health, specifically small-scale drug trafficking, in the municipalities of Benito Juárez (Cancún) and Playa del Carmen. The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office secured the prosecutions in separate hearings.

Prosecution Secured After Evidence Presented by Authorities

In Benito Juárez, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office presented evidence leading to the indictment of the following individuals:

  • Zabdiel “N”, charged with cannabis possession, received justified preventive detention.
  • Francisco Daniel “N” and Miguel Ángel “N”, accused of supplying marijuana and cocaine, were both sentenced to two years of preventive detention.
  • José Luis “N” and Erik Adolfo “N”, charged with possession and supply of cannabis and methamphetamine.
  • Héctor Isaac “N”, accused of simple possession of marijuana and cocaine.
  • Aileen Guadalupe “N”, charged with supplying the same narcotics.

Playa del Carmen: Additional Suspects Indicted

In Playa del Carmen, authorities also indicted 12 individuals as part of a simultaneous crackdown. Those processed include:

  • Josué Roberto “N”, charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
  • Luis Enrique “N”, accused of possession of methamphetamine with intent to supply.
  • Jesús Merlín “N”, Carolina “N”, and Nubia Guadalupe “N”, all charged with possession of cannabis and methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The court imposed justified preventive detention on all defendants.

The prosecutions underscore ongoing efforts by the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
