Cancún, Quintana Roo — A high-impact incident sparked outrage outside the General Hospital “Jesús Kumate Rodríguez” this Sunday morning after Mexican Navy personnel obstructed the entry of a gunshot victim being urgently transported by Civil Protection paramedics.
Incident Details
The armed attack occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Privada Laurelillos in Supermanzana 260, Prado Norte neighborhood. Following the report, paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the injured individual to the hospital for immediate treatment.
However, upon reaching the emergency area, Navy personnel were already present—not to facilitate access but seemingly to hinder it. Eyewitnesses reported that the marines began shouting upon their arrival, even before the ambulance doors opened.
As paramedics attempted to maneuver the victim into the emergency room, at least two Navy members blocked the path, creating confusion over which entrance should be used.
Witness Accounts
One marine was photographed taking pictures of the press, while another laughed during the emergency, angering bystanders.
“After getting in the way, the marines walked out of the emergency area smiling, as if nothing had happened,” said a witness who was live-streaming the incident.
The behavior has raised concerns about the preparedness of armed forces personnel in civilian emergency situations.
Victim’s Condition
The gunshot victim remains under medical care, with official updates on their health status pending.
