Akumal, Quintana Roo — Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo conducted a supervision visit to the Akumal Health Center as part of his strategy to maintain direct contact with residents. The goal was to verify the facility’s actual condition, identify shortcomings, and ensure the local population receives adequate medical services.
Castañón was accompanied by Health Director Sonia Vargas, Chief Officer Juan Antonio Garza, General Services Director Edwin Camal, and Councilor Jackelin Pérez, who chairs the Health Commission. Together they checked the center’s supplies, lighting conditions, functionality of various areas, and staffing levels.
Councilor Pérez reported favorable conditions at the facility and reaffirmed the city council’s commitment to continued coordinated work for the well-being of families in Akumal and surrounding areas.
Chief Officer Juan Antonio Garza detailed that the city maintains a permanent preventive maintenance program for health centers across the municipality. Work includes painting, lighting repairs, and improvements to air conditioning and plumbing systems to ensure facilities operate in optimal conditions.
The visit to Akumal is part of a series of direct community inspections the mayor is conducting, emphasizing field supervision as a management and accountability tool.
