Cancún Music Festival Opens Second International Classical Guitar Competition

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Classical guitar will once again take center stage at the Festival Internacional de Música Cancún (FIM Cancún), which is preparing the second edition of its International Classical Guitar Competition as part of the festival’s 13th year.

The event aims to bring together talent, technique and passion for one of the fundamental instruments of concert music. It also opens a space for national and international performers eager to showcase their work before a specialized audience.

Open to Guitarists Worldwide

The call for entries is open to guitarists of all nationalities, aged 18 and over, with no maximum age limit. The competition will feature a Concertist category, with a qualifying round scheduled for November 26 at 9:00 a.m.

The final will be held on November 27 at 11:00 a.m. Both stages will take place at the Escuela de Música del Parque de la Equidad in Cancún.

Organizers said the competition seeks to gather performers of different backgrounds and origins in the city as part of the 13th edition of FIM Cancún.

Prizes Worth More Than $3,500

Beyond the meeting of musicians, the competition offers prizes valued at more than $3,500. The prize pool makes the contest an opportunity for national and international guitarists to share their talent and compete in a space dedicated to concert music.

Organizers noted that the participation of performers from different nationalities strengthens the festival’s international character and broadens Cancún’s cultural offerings.
