Sheinbaum to Give Second Government Report in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — President Claudia Sheinbaum will present her second government report, titled “Honesty and Results,” at 4 p.m. Saturday at Malecón Tajamar in this Caribbean resort city, as part of a tour that has taken her to Mexico’s 31 states and Mexico City.

State and municipal officials, along with members of the Quintana Roo Congress, are expected to attend the event, which will be the president’s most significant appearance in the Mexican Caribbean during the current tour. Sheinbaum is expected to outline progress on federal projects in the state and deliver a summary of her administration’s record.

By Thursday, no stage installation was yet visible along Malecón Tajamar.

Earlier the same day, the president will appear at the Siglo XXI Convention Center in Mérida, Yucatán. On Sunday, she will lead the commemoration of the 178th anniversary of the Heroic Deeds of the Niños Héroes de Chapultepec in Mexico City, before presenting the same report in Pachuca, Hidalgo.

Federal Projects in Quintana Roo

Federal investment in Quintana Roo over the past year has focused on infrastructure, health, housing, education, sargassum management and rail connectivity.

The federal government completed the Nichupté Vehicular Bridge this year and began work on the Distribuidor Vial over Kukulcán Boulevard, projects aimed at easing some of the mobility challenges facing one of Mexico’s leading tourist destinations. Officials say the works will improve travel for residents, workers and visitors and strengthen links between different areas of Cancún.

In health care, hospitals are under construction at several locations across the state, with funds allocated to expand and modernize medical infrastructure. The projects are intended to increase capacity and bring specialized, tertiary-level services closer to residents, a change officials describe as significant for families in the state.

Under the “Vivienda para el Bienestar” housing program, the federal government is building more than 55,000 homes in several cities across Quintana Roo. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader welfare policy and is aimed at families who struggle to secure adequate housing.
