Tulum, Quintana Roo — The second edition of the Boonil Paal kids’ race will take place May 2 at the Tulum Sports Unit, offering children a mix of recreation and exercise in a family-friendly setting.

According to Iliana Canul Dzib, the city’s second councilor, the event features categories based on age. Children aged 4 to 6 will run 600 meters; those 7 to 9 will cover 850 meters; and participants aged 10 to 12 will race 1.7 kilometers.

A separate 1.7-kilometer category is open to mothers.

The race is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. The registration fee is 180 pesos (about $9 USD), which includes a kit with a T-shirt, colored powder, water, and bubbles.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category. Registration requires a copy of the guardian’s official ID and the child’s CURP (unique population registry code).

Inscriptions are being accepted at the second councilor’s office in the municipal palace and at the Casa del Amigo Marciano, located on Sagitario and Acuario streets, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The race is part of the municipality’s recreational and sports activities aimed at promoting family and children’s participation.
