Three People Arrested in Tulum With More Than 96 Bags of Suspected Marijuana

Three suspects arrested in Tulum with more than 96 bags of suspected marijuana.

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Police arrested two women and a man in Tulum after finding more than 96 plastic bags of suspected marijuana during a search, authorities said.

The suspects were identified as Jesús Alexis N., 25; Ana Cristina N., 24; and Jaqueline N., 30. They were taken into custody on suspicion of drug-related crimes after officers found the bags, each containing dry green plant material with characteristics similar to marijuana, officials said.

The arrests were made during an operation involving officers from Tulum’s Public Security and Citizen Protection Department, personnel from the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, and members of the Mexican Army. The suspects were caught in possession of the substances, authorities said.

Preliminary tests indicated the material was likely marijuana, but chemical analysis will determine the exact type and quantity of the seized substance.

After completing the scene investigation, the three suspects were handed over to the State Prosecutor’s Office along with the bags. Prosecutors will open an investigation file and work to establish the origin of the substances.
