Lázaro Cárdenas, Quintana Roo — Seven Cuban nationals were arrested Tuesday on Holbox Island after authorities found them in possession of a significant quantity of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy.

The arrests were carried out by the Centurion Group of the Public Security Department, working alongside the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard.

Officials identified the suspects as Yoel N, Greter N, Daniela N, Adriagne N, Carlos Miguel N, Juan Miguel N, and Rafael N.

According to the official report, the incident occurred on Lisa Street when officers on routine patrol spotted a group of people in a green area. The suspects acted evasively and attempted to flee, prompting the officers to intervene and search them and their belongings.

During the search, security forces seized 201 small transparent plastic bags containing dry green plant material consistent with marijuana, 11 bags with white solid fragments resembling crack cocaine, 26 doses of white powder believed to be cocaine, and 10 bags with purple solid fragments similar to ecstasy.

Authorities also confiscated items used to store the narcotics, including a camouflage fanny pack, a nylon cloth bag, a patterned shoulder bag, a gray suitcase, and an eco-friendly bag.

The seven detainees and all evidence were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing, which will determine their legal status.
