While the official publication in the Diario Oficial de la Federación is pending, the proposed calendar provides a framework for the upcoming academic year.
Key Changes to the Academic Schedule
One notable adjustment is the delayed start of classes, which will now begin on Monday, September 1, 2025, instead of August. This shift fulfills a campaign promise by President Claudia Sheinbaum to grant teachers an additional week of rest following the conclusion of the current school year on July 16, 2025. Students will also benefit from a slightly extended summer break.
Official Holidays and Long Weekends
The draft calendar confirms several mandatory school closures:
- Tuesday, September 16, 2025 – Mexican Independence Day
- Monday, November 17, 2025 – Mexican Revolution Day (observed)
- Monday, February 2, 2026 – Constitution Day (moved from February 5)
- Monday, March 16, 2026 – Benito Juárez’s Birthday
- Friday, May 1, 2026 – Labor Day
- Tuesday, May 5, 2026 – Battle of Puebla
- Friday, May 15, 2026 – Teacher’s Day
Scheduled Vacation Periods
Two major vacation periods are outlined:
- Winter Break: December 22, 2025, to January 9, 2026 (classes resume January 10).
- Spring Break: March 30 to April 10, 2026 (classes resume April 13).
Teacher Planning Days (CTE Sessions)
Monthly Consejo Técnico Escolar (CTE) meetings will suspend classes for students while faculty engage in planning. The scheduled dates are:
