Quintana Roo, Mexico — Facing reduced demand during the off-season for vacationers, the Maya Train has launched an attractive strategy: lowering fares to encourage more people to discover the wonders of southeastern Mexico aboard this new railway system. The new intermodal fares, which combine station access and transfers to urban centers, start at just 25 pesos.
Discounted Routes and Increased Frequency
High-demand tourist destinations such as Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum now cost only 55 pesos, while the route to Tulum International Airport is available for 35 pesos. Travelers heading to Bacalar, one of Quintana Roo’s most iconic “Pueblos Mágicos,” can make the trip for just 25 pesos.
In addition to these special fares, the Maya Train has increased its frequency to hourly departures, making trip planning easier for both domestic tourists and locals looking to explore the region at a low cost. This measure is part of broader efforts to position the train as an efficient, accessible, and culturally enriching mode of transportation.
Enhanced User Experience
For added convenience, users can download the official Maya Train app, available on digital stores. The app allows passengers to purchase tickets without waiting in line, check schedules, view routes, and plan itineraries seamlessly from their mobile devices.
“Traveling has never been easier,” highlights the promotional campaign, which emphasizes the spectacular landscapes visible along the route—tropical jungles, turquoise waters, Mayan archaeological sites, and traditional towns.
Strategic Goals
With this price reduction and user experience improvements, the Maya Train aims not only to increase ridership during months of lower tourist traffic but also to solidify its role as a key transportation link for residents and visitors in southeastern Mexico.
