Mérida, Yucatán — Authorities arrested a second suspect in the disappearance and murder of a 33-year-old woman in Cancun, state prosecutors announced.

Isaac Antonio “N”, 45, known by the alias “El Padrino” and a native of Yucatán, was captured in Mérida during a joint operation by the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office and Yucatán authorities. He faces charges of aggravated disappearance committed by private individuals.

The victim, identified as Perla, was reported missing on April 26. Her dismembered body was found on May 9 inside black plastic bags in a cenote located in a wooded area of the irregular Mexico neighborhood, on the outskirts of Cancun near the road to Mérida. Investigators conducted search warrants at properties linked to the crime.

According to investigators, the woman arrived at a home on Jalisco Street in the same area, where Isaac Antonio “N” was present along with five other individuals. As she left on a motorcycle, the suspects followed her in a Honda pickup truck and stabbed her to death. They then took her body to a property in the same neighborhood, where it was discovered 13 days after her disappearance. Authorities believe the motive involved revenge linked to drug dealing and jealousy.

A first suspect, Cristian Giovani “N”, was arrested in early May after witnesses reported he transported the victim on a motorcycle the last time she was seen alive on a road in the Mexico neighborhood.

The State Prosecutor’s Office obtained arrest warrants for both suspects on charges of disappearance committed by private individuals, as the body had not yet been located at the time of the warrants.

After his arrest in Mérida, Isaac Antonio “N” was transferred to a Control Judge in Cancun, who ordered pretrial detention while his legal status is resolved.
