RodandoXTulum Bike Collective Draws 120 Cyclists Weekly in Tulum

Group of cyclists riding through Tulum streets at night as part of RodandoXTulum weekly bike ride

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Every Friday night, dozens of cyclists take to the streets of Tulum as part of RodandoXTulum, a collective that promotes biking, physical activity, and community bonding.

The group has held these rides continuously for about a year and a half, now gathering roughly 120 participants each week for urban tours.

Members Abril Estrada and Raúl Ruiz González said the collective formed about three years ago and has since grown to include riders from Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cancún, and other municipalities in Quintana Roo.

Urban and Mountain Rides Strengthen Cycling Community

In addition to city rides, the group organizes mountain biking routes to various points in the municipality and nearby areas.

“We want to bring together everyone who enjoys riding a bike to socialize and exercise. Anyone can join, regardless of the type of bike they have. We also do mountain rides to Punta Allen, Boca Paila, Muyil, Macario Gómez, and other nearby routes,” they said.

Organizers noted that as the collective has grown, they have strengthened safety measures during rides. They have cyclists assigned to lead and close the group, plus two-way radios for constant communication to handle any issues along the way.

Participants Call for Greater Respect for Cyclists

While acknowledging that some drivers still fail to respect cyclists’ space or are unaware of their rights on the road, the group said it will continue promoting responsible mobility and mutual respect among all road users.

They invited the public to join RodandoXTulum’s night rides, an activity open to people of all ages with any type of bicycle.
