Tulum, Quintana Roo — Firefighters rescued a green sea turtle that fell into a swimming pool at the Caleta Tankah beach club in Tulum, managing to return the animal to the ocean.
The turtle was the second of its kind to end up in a pool in the municipality, according to Gabriel Castillo, head of the Tulum Marine Turtle Protection and Conservation Program.
Crews placed a board under the heavy reptile and carried it across the beach, past the sargasso, to the water, where it was released.
Before that, a biologist examined the turtle to confirm it had not been injured.
