Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man and a woman died Friday morning after the motorcycle they were riding skidded and crashed into the median on Gastón Alegre Avenue, commonly known as Rancho Viejo, in Cancún.
The crash occurred around 9 a.m. near the El Sheriff neighborhood and Region 236, a short distance from the Arco Vial. According to preliminary reports, the riders lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the central median. The impact threw both onto the pavement, and they died almost instantly.
The man and woman ended up in the middle of the road, with some personal belongings scattered a few feet from the motorcycle.
Municipal police officers and private paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that neither the man nor the woman had vital signs.
The cause of the loss of control remains unknown. State Prosecutor’s Office investigators were called to the scene to conduct an examination and determine exactly what caused the deadly crash.
Forensic services personnel removed the bodies and transferred them to the facilities of the Medical Examiner’s Office (SEMEFO).
