Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Riu Palace Peninsula has officially reopened in Cancún after a complete renovation that modernizes its facilities and introduces the new Elite Club, an adults-only premium experience.

The hotel, located in Cancún’s Hotel Zone and operated by RIU Hotels & Resorts, features redesigned rooms, updated common areas, and the Elite Club, a service offering enhanced privacy and personalized amenities.

Since opening in 2012, the property has been one of the chain’s flagship resorts in the Mexican Caribbean. The renovation aims to strengthen RIU’s offering in one of Mexico’s top vacation destinations.

Elite Club Offers Premium Experience

The centerpiece of the renovation is the Elite Club, designed for guests seeking more privacy, comfort, and tailored services. Benefits include:

  • An exclusive restaurant for Elite guests
  • A private pool with a swim-up bar
  • Premium beverage service
  • Access to the hotel’s 100 best rooms
  • Villas with private pools

With this addition, RIU expands its luxury segment in the Mexican Caribbean and responds to growing demand for personalized experiences.

Rooms and Common Areas Fully Renovated

The renovation also covered all 618 rooms, which now feature contemporary decor with natural tones, wood finishes, and a more functional layout. The lobby was expanded for greater comfort and improved natural lighting. A highlight is the new District bar, with large windows offering privileged views of the Caribbean Sea.

Expanded Dining Options

The hotel now offers nine restaurants and seven bars, boosting its culinary appeal for domestic and international guests. New options include:

  • American Country, specializing in American cuisine, located inside the 24-hour Sports Bar
  • Candy, an ice cream parlor designed for families and dessert lovers

The full dining lineup features an international buffet, Duomo (Italian), Agave (Mexican), Sakura (Asian), a steakhouse, Krystal (international), Pepe’s Food, and Tiki Tako.

More Pools and Activities for All Ages

The hotel maintains its extensive gardens and now has six pools: three general-use, one adults-only, one for Elite Club guests, and one children’s pool. The RIU Land area was remodeled to continue offering recreational activities for kids. The entertainment team will hold daily shows and family-friendly activities. Adult guests can also attend RIU Party themed events four times per week at the nearby Riu Caribe hotel.

RIU Maintains Investment in Quintana Roo

With this reopening, RIU reaffirms its commitment to Quintana Roo, where it now operates 15 hotels, six of them in Cancún. The company is also renovating the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen and constructing the new Riu Palace Costa Mujeres, projects that strengthen its presence in one of Mexico’s most important tourism destinations.
