Acapulco, Guerrero — Quintana Roo emerged as a standout winner at the Tianguis Turístico México 2026, taking home multiple awards in a ceremony that also marked the handover of the event’s hosting duties to Puebla for 2027.

Federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora presented the distinctions, which recognize innovation, growth, and social responsibility in driving Mexico’s tourism development.

Quintana Roo won the award for Best Tourist Route for its Ruta de los Cenotes. The state also received the prize for the highest coverage of the National Tourism Registry, an honor accepted by state Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto Riestra, underscoring the Mexican Caribbean’s leadership in formalizing and strengthening the sector.

Additionally, the state was recognized in the Sustainable Community Experience category for the Maya Ka’an Selva y Chicle project, an initiative noted for its positive impact on local communities and environmental conservation.

Grupo Xcaret also received an award for Sustainable Tourism Investment Company, further highlighting Quintana Roo’s role as a benchmark for sustainable tourism development.

The ceremony brought together authorities, business leaders, and industry figures to celebrate the best of Mexico’s tourism sector.
